Upcoming new ROMAlyzer features

Wanted to let all of you know about new ROMAlyzer features that were added in SVN recently:

  • Check-sum database
    • Used to store & retrieve pointers to files in your local file-system(s) and the SHA-1 / CRC-32 check-sums of the data they carry.
  • ROM Collection Rebuilder
    • Reproduces complete ROM collections from scratch in the background from the data stored in the check-sum database.

You can grab (intermediate) Win32 builds including these features (and more updates/fixes) from our forum. The openSUSE SVN builds are also up to date. Please consider giving us feedback since this is fairly new and could probably require some further improvement, although we’re pretty confident it’s ready for prime time now… or if you like it the way it works, you should tell us as well :) .

QMC2 0.43 released

QMC2 0.43 was (finally) released!

This new version is in sync with MAME/MESS 0.153 (released earlier today) and comes with a fair amount of important improvements, mainly aiming to achieve much better performance and to use remarkably less memory. See the change-log below for details!

The source code is available in the download section now. Expect updated binary packages within the next few days.

Mac OS X users will have to be more patient this time because David‘s development system is currently in repair. We’ll post updated Mac OS X binaries as soon as they’re available, but expect them to be at least a week late (community builds may pop up earlier perhaps). In case you’re impatient consider building it yourself :). Also, within the same context I’d like to say “thank you” to Carbon for his prompt support checking the current emulator configuration templates on Mac OS X on behalf of David!

Have fun,

The QMC2 dev-team

QMC2 0.42 released

Merry Christmas :)!

Today we proudly release QMC2 0.42. This version is in sync with MAME/MESS 0.152 (released earlier today) and contains a number of major performance improvements, especially for the loading of cached data. Despite the performance improvements, we also have a few important stability fixes this time, and Qt 5 support has been greatly improved as well (we still recommend Qt 4.8, though). Please see the change-log below for more details!

The source code is available in the download section now, and the openSUSE package for 0.42 has already been updated:

Expect updated binary packages for other OSs  / distributions within the next few days (it’s Christmas, so “when time permits”)!

Have fun,

The QMC2 dev-team
